General Questions
Installing an application:
Question:
I have just installed an app from you. But when I try running it, a window shows up saying: "The application failed to initialize properly
(0x0000135). Click OK to terminate the application".
What is this, and what do I do?
Answer:
Our applications depends on the Windows Framework 3.5 to work correctly. This will normally be downloaded automatically during the install of our applications,
but if your PC is not connected to the internet, you will have to do it manually:
Download the dotnet35 install package from our website and run it on your PC.
(This is a one-time event).
When this is done, all applications from ScandiOne will run on your PC without problems.
Buying an application:
Question:
How do I get to download an application I have just payed for?
Answer:
When your payment is made, press the link "Return to ScandiOne" on the page where PayPal says "You have just completed your payment".
You should get a link from where the download can be done.
If you have any troubles with this, please mail us, and we'll send you the download link on email ASAP.
Question:
I have made the subscription, but my application still shows me commercials. Why?
Answer:
When your payment is made, press the link "Return to ScandiOne" on the page where PayPal says "You have just completed your payment".
This will update your profile as a paying member.
Also, please remember to sign out and log in to your application, so it will know that you are now a paying member.
Piracy:
Question:
Your applications do not contain an activation-code. What prevents me from giving it to everyone I know for free?
Answer:
Your dignity.
We are a small company, and want to keep prices low. One or two dollars for an application should not turn anybody's budget upside down.
And, by the way: Why should anyone get for free, what you have just payed for?

Can not delete an author:
Question:
The search-page shows no titles from this author, but I can't delete the author anyway?
Answer:
The search-page does not return Series that is not used by any books.
Try to see if the author is registered on a series on the Series tabpage.
Can not modify book:
Question:
I am changing a book category, but I can not use the Modify-button. Why is it still inactive?
Answer:
Check if the book has subtitles.
If it has, it is not allowed to change the category to a "non-subtitles"-category, before you have deleted all the subtitles.
Question:
I have changed a book category from one containing subtitles, to one that does not.
The book did not have any registered subtitles, so it should be fine, but the Modify-button is not active?
Answer:
When a book is registered as a "having subtitles"-category, the page number is allowed to be zero.
Changing the the category to a "non-subtitles"-category will require the number of pages to be entered.
Check if the Pages-field is empty or zero.
Searching:
Question:
If I search on the "Advanced Searching"-tabpage, using two authors, one of my antologies shows up.
But it does not show any short stories, and none of the short stories in the antology has both of those two
authors. The authors has written two different short stories in the antology.
Answer:
The searching returns any antology which has both writers in it, no matter who wrote which short story.
Short stories in the antology is only shown, if the short story has both authors.
Handling:
Question:
I have deleted a book by accident. Can you retrieve it for me?
Answer:
No, we do not make backups for this kind of case. Find the book, and re-enter it.
Question:
My 12 year old nephew has deleted all my books. What can I do?
Answer:
Put all your books in a pile beside your computer, and tell your nephew to type them all in again. Or else!

ScandiOne Time and Day
StopCode:
Question:
I need to stop the app, but when I type the stopcode, nothing happens. Why?
Answer:
It is possible an other application has taken focus on your PC. Because ScandiOne Time and Day occupy the whole screen, it doesn't show.
Try moving the mouse, and the focus will return to ScandiOne Time and Day.
Question:
I have forgot the stopcode, and the app is set to start with the PC. What can I do?
Answer:
There is a hardcoded stopcode you can try: "ScandiOne". Please note, that in contrary to the normal stopcode, this is case sensitive: "S" and "O" in "ScandiOne" must
be with capitals, and the rest with small letters.
If everything fails, you'll have to start the PC in safe mode. Please see the startup-screen on your particular PC for instructions about how to do this.
Screen saver and Power saver:
Question:
It is running fine, but after ten minutes the screen goes blank. What can I do?
Answer:
First, if there is a screen saver, you'll have to disable it.
Next, many computers, especially laptops, have a powersaver-function which makes the screen go blank after a period of time.

Everything about shutting down the screen and hibernation should be turned off.

Question:
This is great, I really needed this app. However, I still have to remember all my passwords. Can't you do the same with cookies?
Answer:
We do not deal with cookies, since it is also used to save usernames and passwords. Having these floating around on the internet is not a good idea seen from a security perspective.
